DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays September 16 – December 16\n10:30 AM – 11:30 AM (Alaska Time)\nNote: No Class October 21 and November 25 \nFree & Open to All\, Join at Any Time!\nBeginning & Intermediate Level\nREGISTER HERE\nClasses are virtual \nAbout the Class\nIn this class\, we will grow in our capacity to understand\, speak\, and write in Lingít. We will study written speeches and recordings\, practice greeting each other and speaking from the heart while honoring culture and our linguistic fluency. Our long-term goal is to foster respectful engagement with other Lingít speakers as each of us work together to help revitalize and preserve the Lingít language. As a team we will use resources available to us and find our voices in the language. Lingit is a complex language with 58 letters and about 30 sounds that are not found in English. Four of those sounds are not found in any language in the world. \nGunalchéesh language revitalization partners Discovery Southeast and KTOO for continued support of this program. We appreciate you! \nAbout Neelaatughaa\nHaa Tóoch Lichéesh is filled with gratitude to welcome back Neelaatughaa Anna Clock as our instructor for Beginning & Intermediate Lingít. Neelaatughaa is of German descent on her matriline. Her fatherʼs people are Koyukon Athabascan from Kaltag\, AK\, and Eyak from Prince William Sound. She grew up in Seward\, Alaska and now lives in Anchorage on the land of the Denaʼina people. She works full time as a Native language teacher\, teaching Lingít (Tlingit) and Denaakkʼe (Koyukon Athabascan). She loves to laugh\, connect with friends\, and eat. Her new favorite hobby is boxing\, she practices Muay Thai in the evenings. \nImportant\nIf you know someone who wants to join please have them register using this form. DESCRIPTION:**Register or learn more at namijuneau.org/lgbtq2!** \n\n\n\n\nDance Class for Queer Confidence with Logan Holst\nSunday\, October 18th 4:00-5:30PM\n\n\nJuneau Dance Theatre\, Lemon Creek Studio 5422 Shaune Dr\, Unit C-6 \nPlease wear clothes that are easy to move in and bring clean sneakers/gym shoes.\n \nLGBTQ2S+ Adults Welcome \n\nFacilitated by Logan Holst \n\n\nThis dance class aims to build confidence and comfort in one’s body through creative movement. As someone who experiences gender dysphoria\, Logan has experienced how being able to dance and express themselves and know their body could do things they was proud of helped them through their transition. Logan’s goal is for people to walk away from this with more confidence and to feel more at home in their body. \nLogan is a nonbinary 2nd generation immigrant that has been dancing their entire life. They were classically trained in their grandmother’s studio until her retirement\, after which they joined the JDHS dance team for all four years of high school. They currently teach recreational classes at Johnson Youth Center as part of their treatment program and they teach hip hop at Juneau Dance Theatre. In August 2023 they received their level 1 Dance Teacher University certification from UNLV. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n———————- \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n**This is part of a series of workshops aimed to cultivate joy & belonging as a way of promoting positive mental health within the LGBTQ2S+ community. It is offered by NAMI Juneau and the Haa Tóoch Lichéesh Coalition in partnership with local facilitators.
